YOUR PORT, OUR COMMUNITY FUNDING GRANTS
Our community grants program aims to extend financial support to local projects and initiatives that align with the Port’s corporate social responsibility values, support local community, raise Port of Newcastle’s profile, and help to strengthen relationships with key stakeholders.
Port of Newcastle may offer grants to a charities, not-for-profit organisations, and organisations with tax-deductable gift recipient status, provided the proposal aligns with the priorities of the program and meets the relevant selection criteria. Please note sponsorships are not considered as part of this program.
Annually, applications are welcomed across the following three categories:

Apply for this category of funding if your project or initiative meets one or more of the criteria below:
- Delivers benefit to communities located within the Port catchment area
- Promotes the Port’s values of curiosity, wellbeing, integrity, and community within the Port catchment area.

Our planet

Apply for this category of funding if your project or initiative meets one or more of the criteria below:
- Provides environmental benefits within the Port catchment area
- Delivers measurable environmental benefits to the Port surroundings
- Inspires community engagement and environmental stewardship of the Port’s surroundings.

Our partnerships

Apply for this category of funding if your project or initiative meets one or more of the criteria below:
- Fosters stronger relationships between the Port and the local community
- Supports local student engagement around STEM-related career pathways
- Builds capacity, supports education pathways and makes a meaningful contribution to the sustainability and wellbeing of Aboriginal communities in the Hunter Valley
- Directly engages the community with the Newcastle harbour and port operations
- Empowers women, especially in industry, STEM and leadership roles.
How are applications assessed?
All eligible grant applications will be assessed by a panel of Port employees and select members of the Port’s Community Liaison Group according to the criteria of each category. Any conflicts of interest must be declared prior to the judging process.
When will I know the outcome of my application?
Applications for the 2024 Your Port, Our Community grant funding program closed on Friday 29 November at 5pm. Judging will take place in December, with applicants to be notified of the outcome in early 2025.

Sponsorships
Port of Newcastle has limited capacity for sponsorships beyond our existing commitments, but we may consider sponsorship opportunities on a case-by-case basis. Please email community@pon.com.au for more information.
